7DRL – Day 2
Getting the feeling like Im dropping behind, I hope I havent aimed too high
Well anyway I have more backend done, and almost all tiles sorted. The map generator makes great massive maps now with castles, trees, lakes and paths between areas. Ive got it showing the maps and mobiles and arrows pointing to the nearby castles, the minimap, message log, and some “buttons”. Also added a Numeron Reactor splash screen to display while the program loads and cuts up the tiles, which can take a while. Also a “World Loading” image which is better than a freeze while things are happening.
I also freaked myself out a bit today by getting an out of heap memory error. Never had one before and I had no idea what was causing it – I hoped it wouldnt spell the end because my plans were too large scale – it turns out my display routine was creating an image 7875x 7875 pixels big. thats a big image. Fixed it up and everything good now
But…
Still not walking around…
Tomorrow that is priority one – getting the main game loop, with all the mobiles taking turns and collision management and special tiles (like the teleporter or spell boxes or flag) sorted properly. I dont think this will take very long, so I should be able to sort out some or even all the spells too – most of which can be ripped right out of the origional Domination.
